Wooden Climbing Frames

What better way is there to treat your children. Imaging their faces as they arrive home and in the garden is kiddie heaven - a climbing frame. Kids are natural role players and will have never ending fun making up games and new ways to use the climbing frame. There are however so many different types of climbing frame available so make sure you have done your research first.

You can get wooden climbing frames, metal climbing frames, even plastic climbing frames. Depending on the age of your child you might want to go for one of the wooden or metal types as they will last longer especially in the direct sunlight. You also need to make sure you buy one appropriate to the age of the child. Also you need to make sure you have room to put it as they can be quite large and the photos on the internet can sometimes be deceiving. Unless you have a large grassed area you might also want to consider some rubber matting to go beneath the climbing frame to protect your child should they fall - and of course they will from time to time. It also might be worth doing this if you want your grass to stay as grass and not a mud pit.

Childrens Climbing Frame
Frames aren't just for children - you'll be suprised how many adults want to join in the fun once you have one. Everyone is a child at heart they say! So you've decided it would be nice for your kid to get a wooden climbing frame or frames. Not only will this promote dexterity skills in your children, it will also free up your time whilst they are busy inventing the imaginary scenario they think up.

There are now companies that specialise in creating custom wooden climbing frames, and there are also modular kits you can buy so you can create the perfect frame or frames to suit your garden. You can also get indoor frames, but most people won't have enough space for those frames, but if you do, make sure you get the plastic or wooden variety otherwise you will end up with damaged flooring, plus they will be easier to move out of the way shuold you want to use the space for something else for a time. The wooden frames look best but are not always appropriate especially for very young children.

Use your common sense when choosing a frame and the material such as plastic or wooden frames.

Climbing Frame Slide
There are lots of different types of frames out there. If you have more than one child it is worth getting a frame with multiple things to do at the same time. For example it would be good to get one with a slide and maybe a swing so that your kids won't be arguing over it.

They will of course argue over who gets to go on each part but hey at least they will learn to share and compromise. Most of the large wooden climbing frames come with a slide from the little room. The slides are generally made of plasic or metal - avoid any made of wood as they may develop sharp splinters over time.

Outdoor Climbing Frames
Indoor frames are rarely seen in residential houses because they take up a lot of room. Outdoor frames are more popular. You don't need to get one of the large frames to compete with a public playground, plus it might look unsightly in your garden. Nowadays you can get some great looking wooden tree house like frames which your child will love and enjoy for hours.

If you do go for a wooden one you will need to make sure you re-protect it every year with some wood preserver otherwise it won't last very long. Wood tends to buckle and snap making them unsafe, but if you treat your frames well they should outlast your child's interest in them. If it's outside you might also consider a frame with a built in sandpit which the kids will love.

Kids Climbing Frames
Kids just love to climb, and if you don't provide them with something to climb on they will find all sorts of dangerous things to climb on such as brick walls and fences. So best to avoid this danger by providing them with a decent frame. In regards to danger, it's best to get equipment which meet the stringent EN71 specifications for children's play equipment.

This also makes sure that designs are safe yet still challenging enough to maintain your child's interest. If you get one with a net or rope ladder, make sure you always supervise your children closely because they can be ver dangerous. A lot of the designs nowadays are modular, meaning that you can add new part if your child's interest wanes or if you think a particular part is still not appropriate for their age.

Kids Climbing Wall
A relatively new tangent to the traditional children's climbing frame has arrived recently. The kids climbing wall is a great way to keep your children entertained and it also makes them feel a bit more grown up because they 'rock climbing' as more of an adult hobby, and rightly so. You can get fake plastic walls with little holes and grips all over or even little mountains. Children love to roleplay and they will be maintaineering all afternoon if you give them the chance.

Buy them a little rucksack and they'll sit on the top enjoying the view like a true little moutaineer after a hard day's climb. Of course you need to make sure that the height is appropriate for the age of your child - you'd be suprised how far kids will climb given the chance as they haven't learnt to fear the fall. But properly supervised a kids wall will give hours of entertainment.
